1. What lengths do the Grid Covers components come in?
The Grid Covers components include 2-foot tee covers, 4-foot tee covers, 4-foot main covers, and 4-foot wall angle covers. If you purchase Grid Covers in a Kit format from either Home Depot or Lowe's, your kit will only include 2-foot tees, not 4-foot tees. A Grid Covers kit can be used on a 2x4 ceiling. Please see the Grid Covers installation guide for instructions.

2. What can I use to cut Grid Covers components?
During the installation of Grid Covers, you may need to cut pieces to fit your particular ceiling. Grid Covers can be cut with a tin snips fairly easily.

3. Do I need to remove the tiles to install Grid Covers?
The tiles you have currently installed do not need to be removed to install Grid Covers. Simply snap the component over the grid, pushing the tile up into the ceiling if needed.

4. What sizes is Grid Covers available in?
Grid Covers are available in 9/16-inch, 15/16-inch and 1-inch. It is very important that you measure the width of your grid in numerous places before you order Grid Covers.

5. I'm having a hard time snapping my Grid Covers components on to my grid. What do I need to do?
If you are having a hard time snapping on Grid Covers, you may want to make sure you've ordered the correct width Grid Covers, to fit over your grid. Possible grid widths include 15/16-inch and 1-inch. Grid Covers is available in both sizes. You may also want to check the grid for paint. This could be another cause to your problem. If the paint was sprayed on, you should have no problem snapping the Grid Covers covers on. If the painted was rolled onto the grid, it may be too thick and prevent the covers from snapping on easily. If you currently have 15/16-inch grid and it has been painted using a roller and cannot get the 15/16-inch covers to snap over, you may want to consider trying 1-inch grid covers. If you have any doubt on what size to order, it is recommended to call and have a sample sent to you before you place your order. 

6. Can Grid Covers be used on any type of grid ceiling?
Grid Covers can be used on most metal suspended grid systems, however the type of tile you have in that grid may not allow for Grid Covers. For example, some types of revealed tile (tile that has a 1/4-inch lip around the edge) may not lie in the grid correctly once the Grid Covers is snapped on the grid. See the diagram below.

7. Can Grid Covers be used on different tile styles?
The following diagram shows which styles of tile can and cannot be used with Grid Covers.

1. What is the minimum drop for HG-Grid?
The minimum drop for HG-Grid is 4 inches. This is to allow you enough room to slide and drop the tile in place. If a smaller ceiling height drop is required, reference.

2. What kinds of tiles can I use with HG-Grid?
With the HG-Grid system, any 15/16-inch 2x2 or 2x4 flat or revealed tile can be used. (Revealed panels are those with the 1/4-inch lip around the edge of the panel). ACP's Classic Tin Style Tiles can also be used with the HG-Grid system.

3. What kind of application is HG-Grid recommended for?
HG-Grid is recommended for basements, bathrooms, dining rooms and kitchens. Since HG-Grid is made of PVC plastic, the grid will not rust in high humidity areas.

4. What kind of lights can be used with HG-Grid?
Any type of recessed lighting can be used with HG-Grid. However, any type of lighting you choose to use, must be mounted to or suspended from the floor joists and NOT the ceiling grid. Since HG-Grid is made of PVC plastic, the grid cannot withstand the weight of the lighting without bending the grid components. 

5. What is a dry line?
A dry line is a string line run from one end of the room to the other. It is an alternative to snapping chalk lines. In such cases where you need to snap a chalk line to align your cross tees, you may need to run a dry line if the cross tees fall between the floor joists instead of on a floor joist.

6. In which direction do my mains need to be installed?
The HG Mains can be installed in either direction. If 2x4 trouffer lights are being used, the mains should be installed parallel to the 4’ side of the light.

7. What tools do I need to install HG-Grid?
To completely install HG Grid, you will need the following tools:
String or Chalk Line
Drill with Phillips Tip
Tape Measure
Tin Snips
Utility Knife
1” Dry Wall Screws
Hanger Wire & Lag Eyes

8. Do I need to align my room to have equal border tiles?
The Room Planning section of the installation guide goes through step-by-step instructions on how to lay out your room with equal border tiles, giving you a more professional look. However, you do not necessarily need to have equal border tiles. You can start a room with a full panel and cut tiles only on one side. 

9. How do I install the wall brackets on inside corners?
To install the wall bracket on an inside corner, you can either abut the two wall brackets together, or you can miter them at 45 degrees.

10. Can I order more connector clips if needed?
Each HG-Grid main comes with one connector clip. The connector clips attaches the end of one main to the beginning of another. The connector clips that are included with the mains should be sufficient to finish your room. However, if more connector clips are needed they can be purchased through the store the HG product was originally purchased from.

11. How do I cut border panels if I’m using a revealed tile?
On the revealed panels you will notice a ¼” lip around the edge of the tile. If you need to cut a border panel, you first need to cut the panel down to the border size you have calculated. To do this measure from the wall to the front edge of the cross tee. Then, lay the tile on the grid. Score the face of the tile along the edge of the wall bracket and pull the tile out of the grid. Run a utility knife along a strait edge cutting into the tile. Then cut into the side of the panel dropping out the corner of the tile.

12. How does the cross tee attach to the wall bracket?
The HG Tee is not attached to the wall bracket in any way. It simply rests on the leg of the wall bracket.
